Contradictions

You've all seen this sign, or one of the thousands like it.  The ecumenism of the Mormon Church is legendary.  Fifty thousand clean-cut missionaries are trotting the globe petulantly hoping to get you to the chapel.

Anybody and everybody is welcome.  Visitors become investigators, investigators become converts, and converts become members.  Members become tithe-payers, and tithe-payers pay for the fancy granite signs like this one boldly placed in front of your local LDS chapel.

I have some friends up in Utah who epitomize the perfect Mormon plural family.  The guy is a humble, hard-working husband.  He has two beautiful wives and a bundle of cute little kids.  He minds his own business and is loved by everyone who knows him.

Recently he shared with me a rather remarkable experience he had.  He moved into a Wasatch Front suburb a few years ago, and encountered some members of the local LDS ward.  He politely explained to them that he had two wives, and that he didn't want to cause a stir in the neighborhood.  They would keep largely to themselves and be respectful of the neighbor folks.

The ward members were taken aback by this revelation, but decided that such reticence was ill-placed.  They told my friend that he should not feel unwelcome and should certainly not hesitate to attend the ward's Sunday sacrament services (see the picture above).  He said, "Well, won't it be a little bit awkward  - me sitting there with the ladies on either side of me?  I don't want to make people feel uncomfortable."  "Silly," they pressed, "please come, we would love to have you!"

This humble, uncynical friend of mine decided to take them up on the invitation.  The next Sunday, husband, wife, wife, and toddlers all showed up for sacrament meeting.  When they got to the chapel, the ushers shepherded them to the front pews that had been deliberately vacated to make room for them.  Wow !!!!!!!  Such unprecedented glasnost. !!!

More remarkable still - the trio felt so welcomed, they came back to church again and again, and not just for several Sundays.  For TWO LONG YEARS this sweet family attended church faithfully, mingling and participating and sharing the fellowship and goodwill of people who embrace the restored Gospel.

The two ladies were so well received and respected by the ward members that they were eventually asked if they would accept some assignments and callings in the ward.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPSSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess that upset the applecart.  As you can expect, word of this development wafted up into the nostrils of the dark blue suits at 50 E. North Temple, and the fat hit the shin.  The edict came down.  But wait, there's more. Not only did the General Authorities override the local leaders regarding giving Church callings to polygamists (of course), but they actually told them to ask this beloved family of longtime visitors that they were NOT ALLOWED TO COME TO SUNDAY CHURCH MEETINGS ANY MORE.

That was the end of my friends' attendance at Mormon Church meetings.  What can you say?

VISITORS WELCOME

You Can't Make It Float

Someone once told me that you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him float.  I have some brief observations about the train wreck I call Obaminacare.

1.  Insurance companies' role in life is actuarial - they calculate risk and underwrite it for profit purposes.  Obama has cut the underwriting legs out from underneath the insurance companies by commanding them to insure everyone regardless of their health conditions.  This will ratchet up the cost of coverage for everyone.  Gone are the exceptions for pre-existing conditions.  Gone are lifetime reimbursement limits.  Young adults can stay on their parents' policies.  All this lovely extra protection costs money.

2. Obama is a liar.  He campaigned for months with the refrain: "If you like your plan you can keep it."  Sadly, he and his cronies ABSOLUTELY knew that likely seven million people would be forced off the policies they liked because he, Obama, was going to compel those insurers to alter the coverages included in those policies.

3.  We are learning now that the HHS administration contemplated allowing folks to browse the Affordable Care website anonymously to peruse the new rates.  This idea was scrapped at the last minute - why? - because the A-holes on Obama's political team KNEW that people would get instant sticker-shock from seeing the huge new premiums, and would run for the hills.  So now, if you want to know what your new premiums will be, you have to sign on and cough up your entire family's bio' before you see any options and pricing.  One applicant told the navigator on the other end of the phone line that the premiums were too high and she was deciding against getting coverage at this time.  The navigator told her it was too late - they had all her info' now, and she was legally required to obtain coverage.  After all, it's "a tax", right?

4.  The Healthcare.gov website slated to enroll millions of previously uninsured Americans is broken.  The website creators cannot offer any reassurances as to when the site will work properly.  Only 26,000 people have signed on to the federal insurance exchanges, and that means NOTHING, because none of those people has paid a single dollar of premiums yet.

5.  Think about this - if you never had health insurance before, and now you have a monthly premium of $550 a month, how will you pay it?  What if you have to decide whether to pay your mortgage or your insurance premium?  Now I know you know that if you fail to pay your car insurance premium, you will be in deep doo-doo, but is it so awful bad if you cannot send a $550 check to Blue Cross?  Missing car insurance premiums spells huge problems - you could get a citation; you could lose your good driver credentials; your lender could slap some crazy, force-placed Collateral Protection Insurance on your car loan.  It's not worth it, is it?  But if you skip a health insurance premium, what's the fallout?  Maybe you end up in the emergency room from a cycling accident - you get hit with a $5,000 hospital/doctor bill and you plead poverty and make $50 a month payments - or include it in your next bankruptcy.  Try scrounging up an extra $550 when you are living paycheck to paycheck.

6.  Many Democrat politicians are running for cover.  Some are even calling for a bill to compel insurers to restore the canceled plans that Obama once promised would not be canceled.  Good luck!  The government cannot command private insurers to reinstate a product they have dropped.

7.  Obama's solution to all of this is to entice all these disappointed shoppers with subsidies - "Just sign up, and we will give you a huge tax credit at the end of the year to offset the huge premiums you are paying."   - - - unless you are middle class, and make a moderate income and don't qualify for subsidies.

8.  You don't have to be a rocket surgeon to realize that this is about redistribution of wealth.  Through this program, 400,000 people have just barely added themselves to the Medicaid recipient rolls.  Obama must raise taxes or insurance premiums on the middle class to recoup the costs of that - and we've only just begun.

9.  The employer mandate has not yet gone into effect.  When the insurance companies have to find a way to pass on the huge extra expenses, they will raise the premiums on employer-sponsored health-care plans.  Many employers will dump those programs and kick their employees onto the federal exchanges.

10.  Some idiot liberals - Bob Beckel and Alan Colmes, for example - have wasted no time saying that this Obaminacare train wreck is further fodder for the argument that it is time to go with a "single-payer" health care system (translation - nationalized socialized medicine).  Frankly, if the federal government cannot successfully run a complex website, I wouldn't trust it with running all of America's health care systems.

11.  I am inclined to see liberals more as diabolical than stupid, but one would have to think that the Obama posse saw this train coming down the tracks.  For three years, opponents have been trumpeting the drawbacks and risks.  Republicans held hostage the debt ceiling increase to try to wake up the liberals to the insanity of this legislation.  The democrats accused them of ruining our country.

12.  Where do we go from here?  I'm not sure.  It seems certain that the Obaminacare machine will melt down.  Millions of people have lost their coverage, and tens of millions more will lose theirs.  Yes, the democrats will likely suffer a huge political setback.  The Republicans could retake the Senate.  Obama will not be able to push through amnesty for the 20 million illegal aliens.  He will not be able to start taxing you for your carbon footprint.

13.  OR - - is this a bigger event?  Will this social catastrophe be the trigger for a complete implosion of the American economy?  Remember that the world bankers have that as their ultimate goal.  I am fascinated to watch this unfold.  Each day brings new revelations.  Who knows? - just keep your lamps trimmed.

Something Fishy

I think there must be something fishy going on.  It has been almost a year since the last hearing in the Kody Brown bigamy statute challenge case.  Federal District Court Judge Clark Waddoups has had this case for AGES !!  It was clear that he would rule in the Browns' favor.  Maybe he has gotten cold feet.

This case is HUGE.  Jonathan Turley is positively wetting himself in anticipation of overturning one of American history's greatest judicial injustices.  What is with this protracted delay?

You KNOW that there are political and government officials in and out of Utah who don't want polygamy to be decriminalized.  That would make them look like the fools they are.  Have these officials had quiet ex parte discussions with Waddoups to try to get him to change or at least delay his ruling?  That would be unthinkable (unless you look at what happened after the 1953 Short Creek raid and internment debacle).

I can see it taking two months, or maybe even six, for Waddoups to write up his decision, but this is starting to get silly.  Not too long ago, I gave him till the end of the day - - - - he didn't obey me!

As of last week, now 15 states perform gay marriages.  Why cannot Utah stop criminalizing the very existence of people who have two or more bed-partners?

I guess I should not have been so naive as to think that this would go smoothly.

Renn.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update:
I want to soften my cynicism.  As of 12/13/13 (31 days after this original post), Judge Waddoups came through with a resounding repudiation of Utah's bigamy statute.  I guess he just wanted to give me a Christmas gift.

Intelligent

You know I have a fascination with the argument over the validity of Darwinian evolution.  Recently I have been reading a (2004) volume by William Dembski, Uncommon Dissent.  The book is a compilation of essays by fifteen intellectuals who challenge Darwinism.

One essay discusses the battle in the U.S. over whether ideas that contrast with Darwinism ought to be included in public school curricula.  This post will be brief.  I just want to echo one point made by one of the contributors to Uncommon Dissent.

Proponents of the Darwinian theory of evolution do not want Intelligent Design (ID) taught in schools.  They view ID proponents as religious fanatics.  They see religion as mere myth and fantasy.  Surely educators should not be propounding unscientific fantasies in the classroom.

Darwinists see the evolution theory as a purely scientific theory - scientific in that it is naturalistic.  The naturalistic view of the cosmos is that stuff happened naturally and randomly - without direction and purpose.  It insists on a universe devoid of God or a creator - devoid of intelligent organization or design.

Darwinists argue that evolutionary theory MUST be taught to our children because it IS SCIENCE, whereas the view that there may have been a purposeful designer is religious fanaticism.  Problem is - there are many smart scientists who don't believe Darwinism has been proved as unquestioned scientific fact either.

Einstein taught us (Second Law of Thermodynamics) that, if left to its own devices, everything in the universe will tend towards chaos, disorder, entropy.  Why then, are evolutionists so comfortable with the idea that, without intervention, biology naturally and gradually tends towards the beautiful, ordered complexity we see now in ourselves and in the world around us?

The way in which proponents of Darwinism successfully drown out the millions of adherents to the Intelligent Design theory is wickedly simple.  They re-frame the argument.  Darwinism itself is a system of beliefs.  No scientist has EVER successfully demonstrated (or even explained) how one species can morph into a different one, or even how the eye organ went from not existing to now allowing us all to see.  They say, "Well, it might have happened like this," or, "Scientists believe it probably evolved gradually over a long span of time."  Still, there is NO science in these assertions, they are just beliefs, faith in a idea.

By re-framing the argument and saying that evolution is science, and that the ubiquitous evidence of purposeful, intelligent design is fantasy, the evolutionists persuade Americans and their governments that only "science", not "religion" deserves a place in the classroom.  No other cosmic or contrasting view can be discussed - even those of scientists who are not proponents of "creationism".

The ardent evolutionist is likely always an avowed atheist who desperately wants God not to be there.  Why?  Why do they want also to control your children's minds?

Maybe you SHOULD home-school your kids.

Short Memory

Dallin H. Oaks gives 3 fingers
In this photo, LDS Apostle Dallin H. Oaks is giving three fingers.  I have heard hypocrisies from this guy on other occasions, but he distinguished himself again in last weekend's (October 2013) LDS General Conference.

I believe that churches should formulate whatever teachings and policies they want to.  The argument over gay legal marriage in America is silly.

Meanwhile, read the following from the AP:
 -------------------------------------
The Mormon church cannot condone same-sex marriage, even if that stance might be misunderstood or prompt accusations of bigotry, a top church leader has said.

No matter what legislation US states or nations passed, human laws could not "make moral what God has declared immoral", Apostle Dallin Oaks told the church's biannual general conference in Salt Lake City on Sunday.

He urged members to remember that their first priority was to serve God, and the policies of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were based on God's decrees, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

The church's eternal perspective did not allow members "to condone such behaviors or to find justification in the laws that permit them", Oaks said. "And unlike other organizations that can change their policies and even their doctrines, our policies are determined by the truths God has declared to be unchangeable."

Drum Beat

I watched a little CNN this morning.  I have this image in my mind of the job interview process for CNN anchors -

INTERVIEWER: - - "Thanks for coming in to meet with us today.  Let's get started.

First, do you worship Barack Obama and his socialist ideals?"

APPLICANT: - -  "Yes."

INTERVIEWER: - - "Great, you're hired. Start tomorrow."

The discussion on the network's shows today has been the horrific stories caused by the now three-day-long partial shutdown of federal government operations - children are dying of cancer, impoverished government employees cannot afford their medication, federal workers will have their homes foreclosed on, the sky will soon fall in.  Sacrosanct is Obaminacare, so that more wealth can be redistributed by the government (while paying the IRS $200 million to collect it from us).

Obama calls this "the Republican Shutdown".  He will not talk to Republican leaders to work out a compromise, so the shutdown may drag on for a while.  Today, Obama mentioned how terrible it will be if we have not only a government shutdown, but also the "economic shutdown" which will ensue if we don't "pay our bills" and meet our "financial obligations" - translate - "continue to pay our ($1 billion dollar-per-day) interest payments to the usury-mongers.  God forbid!!  Then the sky really would fall in, right?  Or would it?

Obama said that were we not to pay our debt payments, it would hurt all the other countries around the world.  If the other countries joined us, however, in an interest payment moratorium, what would happen?  I guess a few Mediterranean banking families would not collect our hard-earned paper cash that they counterfeited, and they would have to start dipping into all those gold reserves they confiscated from the world's nations.

Whom is Obama protecting?

Nobody would say that CNN's talking heads are evil, but why do they maintain this persistent pro-Obama-socialist drumbeat to convince viewers that free stuff is the right way to run a country, when the free stuff has to be stolen from other folks?  I guess conservatism runs in my blood, because I cannot understand the mindset of people who want entitlements, unless a spirit of plunder runs through their veins.  Obama's model is downright devilish and unconstitutional.

I'm going to watch this squabble over the next few days, because I think that the nation may soon realize that Obama is the one standing in the way of a solution.  He wants you to think that it is the Republicans who are being obstinate. The law of unintended consequences may kick in.

A Distraction

Don't you get confused sometimes when you watch our stupid government bumbling around over controversial issues?  Recently, somebody in Syria unleashed sarin gas on a bunch of innocent Syrians.  Probably Syria's president.  Hundreds of women and children died horrible deaths.

Obama has decided that he wants to bomb Syria - or part of it.  For the life of me, I cannot figure out what his gameplan is.  He says we have to send a punitive message so that fiendish dictators like Bashar al-Assad will think twice about using weapons of mass destruction.  The element of surprise is long gone.  Assad has moved critical assets.  He has moved political prisoners into areas the U.S. military might target so that they can serve as a human shield.

Obama is going on TV to make his case for a military strike.  Public approval for such a measure is waning fast.  Republicans hate Obama, so it is their turn to argue against military interventions, while the liberal, Obama-lovin' democrats find themselves in the weird position of having to argue for action they would have excoriated Bush for contemplating.

This squabble has gone on for weeks now.  I am paying attention, you are paying attention, the whole world is paying attention.  Thus your attention has been successfully distracted and shifted away from all the other ridiculousness being foisted upon you by the federal government - Benghazi, Obamacare, the NSA snooping in to your emails and phone calls, the IRS targeting of conservative non-profit groups, and Bernanke counterfeiting $80 billion dollars every month, making your money shrink every day.  Does Obama think he can become a conquering hero commander-in-chief and get more democratic votes in the upcoming mid-term election?

Back to Syria - think about this - why does the government/banking machinery want to push for new aggression against Syria?  If we do bomb Damascus, will Assad bomb us?  Will Putin decide to jump in?  Will Assad bomb Israel as a reprisal?  Will Iran get involved?  Will this little storm in a teacup be the trigger for the long-prophesied WWIII?

I'm still confused.  One thing is for sure - Obama is an empty suit, and someone in power above him is the real string-puller.

Keep your lamps trimmed and don't be distracted.

Off With Their Heads

I am still scratching my head over the FLDS implosion.  In 2005, the State of Utah seized the FLDS UEP trust and ran up millions in inflated fiduciary fees.  The Hooles assisted with the rewording of the UEP trust statement, hoping to plunder the trust for their own gain.  Warren told his followers to "Answer them nothing."  Young men were illegally detained and imprisoned in an Arizona prison, simply because they had no idea of Warren's whereabouts and could not disclose something they didn't know.

Warren was captured in 2007, but his conviction in a Utah court was overturned.

In 2008, 439 children were confiscated from the FLDS ranch in west Texas.  The feds knew at the time that Warren was molesting little girls.  The little kids were returned thanks to Julie Balovich, but Warren was later convicted by a Texas court, and should remain in his Texas prison until the next millennium.

Probably dozens of the young teen girls (now adults) still remain under FLDS house arrest.  Only God knows how they can regain a normal life in the wake of the destruction of their perverse, fairy-tale culture.

Fiduciary Bruce Wisan eventually had to get his filthy lucrative fees from the Utah legislature.  Mark Shurtleff, then the A.G. who targeted the FLDS, found himself at cross purposes with Judge Denise Lindberg, who would make a ruling in favor of the FLDS if her life depended on it.

Federal Judge Dee Benson demanded that the State return the UEP trust to its trustee (Warren Jeffs), but that got thwarted, too.

A wise man once told me that one can liken the UEP trust to an egg.  The egg was once fresh and whole and desirable.  Then somebody scrambled it and cooked it.  Then someone else came along and burned it.  Try as you might, you cannot return that egg to its shell, and put things back to how they were before.

Willie Jessop sued the FLDS church to recoup the money he loaned Warren to pay for all the lawyers who defended him.  Answering "them nothing", Warren watched Willie win the suit by default and earn a $20 million award.  Since then, Willie has gained control of the spectacular mansions built for Warren by his followers since his incarceration.  The porn theaters have been removed.

After a period of time under the leadership of John Wayman, the control of the FLDS people has been handed back to Warren's brother, Lyle.  Warren and Lyle have bled virtually every penny out of the remaining faithful.  The number of faithful is dwindling steadily as they are systematically ejected from the fold because of any number of petty violations or heresies.  Families and children are abandoned, then jumbled up at Warren's whim.  Warren is now certifiably insane, so one has to wonder why Lyle complies with every directive.  Perhaps it is because he likes not working and living for free off other people's labors.  No one has been allowed to marry since 2006, and rumors abound now that a select group of men has been selected to play the role of community impregnators.  One thing is for sure - hundreds of families have been ripped to shreds, and some exiles are still trying to gain back the infant children they handed over to the church police while they were still sucked in by Warren.

This is turning out to be one of the worst humanitarian disasters since the days of Stalin.  It is a true tar baby for the State.  The State may have had a vision of some sort to rehabilitate the twin towns, but it didn't come about.  My sense is that the degree of indoctrination in the FLDS was so extreme, that many of the excommuniqués barely understand what has happened to them.  Would you feel guilty if you had been born into an oppressive cult, and had surrendered your free agency to a lunatic, just because your church's theology so dictated?  Would it be your fault, or just the fault of the lunatic and his cronies?

I wrote a blogpost in 2011 - Critical Mass - in which I pondered the eventual dissolution of the community.  I guess we are there now.  If we accept the premise of a pre-existence, we allow that all of the participants in this adventure consented to come to earth at this time and be tested by it.  For us outsiders, our duty is to provide whatever kindness and support is desired by those who have become victims of the nightmare.  I hope that we remember that it was NOT POLYGAMY that caused all this.  It was stupid humans doing cruel, selfish stuff.  That's the lesson.

Our Enemy, The State

Allow me to excerpt some prophetic wisdom penned in 1935 by Albert Nock.  I found this material on the following webpage - http://www.barefootsworld.net/nockoets1.html
Nock was witnessing the Democrats' "New Deal" power grab during Roosevelt's presidency.

Part of the world bankers' plan was to bankrupt the States and the other Western countries.  In a bankruptcy, you are beholden to the demands of the trustee.  Our republic and sovereignty were destroyed through a series of deceits commencing even before the ratification of the Constitution.  The Constitution itself was a bankruptcy compact.  The Thirteenth and Fourteenth Amendments were both ramrodded through fraudulently, and are void - except for the fact that we have capitulated and gone along with them.  The Matrix movie was an exquisite metaphor for our current condition.

In the Mormon temple ceremony, we are taught that Satan will buy up armies and navies and rule with blood and horror on the earth.  Throughout history, the traditional model has one nation attacking and plundering another, raping its women and confiscating its resources. The American military cannot operate - - - - without money it borrows from the banker trustee.  If the bank wants a war, we have a war.  Today, all nations are conquered.  we are ALL in bondage.  Remember, however, that when you are in prison, throwing your food in the jailer's face is not a good idea.

This is a Telestial (i.e. fallen) world.  By being in it, you and I are corrupt.  We are strangers in a strange land.  This is not our home.  The banks use you as collateral as soon as you are born.  Look in the bottom right hand corner of your children's Certificate of Live Birth.  There is a nine-digit number (not your SSN).  This is your serial number.

What I find most fascinating is the realization that in the Mormon model of ascension to godhood, those of us who attain that station will form worlds just like this one.  We will establish three races.  Some of our cunning, miscegenated offspring will find precious metals and lend against them to unwitting families and nations.  They will create fractional reserve banking and hand out worthless paper certificates as a substitute for real currency.  They will lend and foreclose, lend and foreclose until the entire world is bankrupt and enslaved.  This is what has been being done on worlds throughout the universe for billions of years.  This is the proving ground.  This is where you show your inclinations and true colors.  This is where we find out if you belong with the wheat or the tares.  If what I am saying resonates with you, then read also - -

I
IF WE look beneath the surface of our public affairs, we can discern one fundamental fact, namely: a great redistribution of power between society and the State. This is the fact that interests the student of civilization. He has only a secondary or derived interest in matters like price-fixing, wage-fixing, inflation, political banking, "agricultural adjustment," and similar items of State policy that fill the pages of newspapers and the mouths of publicists and politicians. All these can be run up under one head. They have an immediate and temporary importance, and for this reason they monopolize public attention, but they all come to the same thing; which is, an increase of State power and a corresponding decrease of social power.

It is unfortunately none too well understood that, just as the State has no money of its own, so it has no power of its own. All the power it has is what society gives it, plus what it confiscates from time to time on one pretext or another; there is no other source from which State power can be drawn. Therefore every assumption of State power, whether by gift or seizure, leaves society with so much less power. There is never, nor can there be, any strengthening of State power without a corresponding and roughly equivalent depletion of social power.

Moreover, it follows that with any exercise of State power, not only the exercise of social power in the same direction, but the disposition to exercise it in that direction, tends to dwindle. Mayor Gaynor astonished the whole of New York when he pointed out to a correspondent who had been complaining about the inefficiency of the police, that any citizen has the right to arrest a malefactor and bring him before a magistrate. "The law of England and of this country," he wrote, "has been very careful to confer no more right in that respect upon policemen and constables than it confers on every citizen." State exercise of that right through a police force had gone on so steadily that not only were citizens indisposed to exercise it, but probably not one in ten thousand knew he had it.

Heretofore in this country sudden crises of misfortune have been met by a mobilization of social power. In fact (except for certain institutional enterprises like the home for the aged, the lunatic-asylum, city-hospital and county-poorhouse) destitution, unemployment, "depression"and similar ills, have been no concern of the State, but have been relieved by the application of social power. Under Mr. Roosevelt, however, the State assumed this function, publicly announcing the doctrine, brand-new in our history, that the State owes its citizens a living. Students of politics, of course, saw in this merely an astute proposal for a prodigious enhancement of State power; merely what, as long ago as 1794, James Madison called "the old trick of turning every contingency into a resource for accumulating force in the government"; and the passage of time has proved that they were right. The effect of this upon the balance between State power and social power is clear, and also its effect of a general indoctrination with the idea that an exercise of social power upon such matters is no longer called for.

It is largely in this way that the progressive conversion of social power into State power becomes acceptable and gets itself accepted. When the Johnstown flood occurred, social power was immediately mobilized and applied with intelligence and vigour. Its abundance, measured by money alone, was so great that when everything was finally put in order, something like a million dollars remained. If such a catastrophe happened now, not only is social power perhaps too depleted for the like exercise, but the general instinct would be to let the State see to it. Not only has social power atrophied to that extent, but the disposition to exercise it in that particular direction has atrophied with it. If the State has made such matters its business, and has confiscated the social power necessary to deal with them, why, let it deal with them. We can get some kind of rough measure of this general atrophy by our own disposition when approached by a beggar. Two years ago we might have been moved to give him something; today we are moved to refer him to the State's relief-agency. The State has said to society, You are either not exercising enough power to meet the emergency, or are exercising it in what I think is an incompetent way, so I shall confiscate your power, and exercise it to suit myself. Hence when a beggar asks us for a quarter, our instinct is to say that the State has already confiscated our quarter for his benefit, and he should go to the State about it.
